“Just back from 4 nights at Le Stella. A really super stay. Whole experience was very smooth. Picking up lift passes at reception, ski hire in downstairs - all very easy. Food was great - staff were friendly. Location ideal for getting up the slopes. Would book another holiday through sunweb and stay at Le Stella again. Very good.”
“During my stay in January, I was truly impressed by the hotel’s exceptional service. After spending time in the cold, returning to such cozy and comfortable rooms was a delight. The breakfast was outstanding, and Antony did a fantastic job preparing it for us—his croissants were absolutely delicious! And the karaoke nights simply amazing”
“I am just back from staying at Hotel Le Stella with Sunweb in Chatel. The description stated that it's a 500m walk to the lift. I would guess it's more like 2/300M to linga. The bus stop is right outside the hotel which has Chatel bus routes 1,2 & 3 so you can get to any of the Chatel lifts easily or in to town. The excellent chalet staff really made the stay great for us. They were all very friendly and helpful. In particular Giannis was very friendly and attentive on the bar, Innes was very welcoming and helpful on reception and Cassie went above and beyond during dinner service. All of the staff were a pleasure to deal with. On arrival we were allowed to store our bags before check in so that we could Ski the same day. Our lift passes were there waiting for us which was very useful. Maria the Chef cooked us nice food the carbonara in particular springs to mind as the best meal I had. None of the food was bad, I think it's all you can expect for the great value price we paid. The breakfast was basic but did the job and again for the price what more could you expect. The staff put on Karaoke night which was good fun. Maria the manager was also very helpful as were the following staff. Gonzalo, Louis, Acasio and Violeta. Drinks prices were reasonable and the long island iced teas were good. Upon check out we were able to book the sauna / showers so that we could Ski our last day and go home fresh. The only minor negative I would say is that some of the 3rd floor rooms have reduced headroom and small showers. Other than that ours was a good size and clean. Thanks all and hope to be back again!”
“We had a great few days here last week. The rooms are functional but have everything you need and are plenty big enough( missed not having a kettle though!) We were half board and the evening meals were really good, especially the Tartiflette. Breakfast was also good. Ski hire actually in the building and lift passes waiting for us on arrival. There is also a way to ski down the field on the other side of the road opposite the hotel at the end of the day which saves walking down from the Linga lift in ski boots. The staff are so helpful and friendly and there’s a lovely bar and lounge area for the evening. Great bakery across the road too. Not right in centre of Chatel but a quick trip on a free bus takes you there in minutes . All good”
“We've just returned from a great trip staying at Le Stella. As Vegans they catered for us at every dinner time and we were pleasantly surprised on how much we enjoyed the food. (We emailed them in advance to give them notice). The bedrooms are basic which is to be expected for the price. The staff where really helpful and friendly and the location is ideal.”
“We had a wonderful week at Hotel Stella. V, Johannes, Maria, Carmen and the rest of the team looked after us so well. Great location with an easy walk to the Linga gondola and bus stops each way just outside it was no problem getting around. Hotel service was great for us, set menu evening meals and buffet breakfast with decent coffee and croissants. This was our first family trip and we'll definitely be back”
“Good value for Châtel. 3 course meal with tasty soup each day. Nice continental breakfast to start each day. Not a posh hotel but exactly what you need for a snowboard holiday. Rental team in the basement were very helpful too.”
“My daughter and I stayed here for a last minute 4-night skiing break in April. I was really very pleasantly surprised. The location is close to a ski lift "La Linga" onto the main ski area (300m straight walk along a flat road), and when that area closed (end of season) the bus to take you to the next ski lift picked up only 50m up the road from the hotel. It stopped (sometimes!) directly opposite the hotel at the end of the skiing day. All ski-hire was on-site, our ski pass was issued on the day we arrived (I recommend getting the full Portes du Soleil pass as it gets you into some really superb skiing areas) and the pick-up/drop off (approx 90-minute) to/from the hotel to Geneva airport was great. The hotel room was basic but perfectly functional. It got cleaned every two days. No TV, but the hotel WiFi was just about sufficient, besides you could pick up a good 4G signal (and who watches TV these days anyway?) so get a data E-Sim and use that for Ipads, mobiles etc. Ablutions were fine, although the shower was quite compact! (No bath). plenty of drawers and hanging space and you get your own secure ski locker downstairs as well as a sauna (untested!) The food at dinner was pretty functional but hearty stuff, ideal following a good day of skiing (pasta, burger, tartiflette etc), with a starter, main course set menu (both non-vegetarian or vegetarian option), dessert and table service for drinks. Breakfast was European buffet style with meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, breads and rolls as well as hot breakfast items. A decent coffee machine too. There was a good bar with a happy hour, and the staff arranged various "activities" in the evenings, quizzes, Karaoke, Bingo etc. Note that it is NOT a party bar and I didn't explore the nightlife in the town (which is a short bus ride away and a long walk back if you miss the last shuttle!) but Chatel is beautiful with shops, a supermarket, bars, cashpoints, a market and restaurants, as well as ski lifts to other pistes. The hotel staff were really excellent and incredibly helpful. All in all, it felt more like a very large chalet rather than a sterile hotel. For the price point it was perfect and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to set themselves up in one place to ski all day having had a good breakfast and then eat a good evening meal, have a few drinks and light entertainment before sleeping well and then repeating. If you want Spa's and Shenanigans then maybe this isn't the place for you! I will certainly come back again to this friendly, functional, family hotel. Well done, Sunweb!”
